How much does a website cost ?

The cost of a website depends very much on the type of website your organisation wants. Will your website need a shopping cart system? Will it have a contact us form or an online quotation or maybe a newsletter sign up? Do you want a CMS (Content Management System) so you can update your website regularly inhouse? Each website is different and we deliver individual quotations for each client depending on the website’s specifications. 

You will find that whilst shopping around that you may receive quotes that vary greatly in price. A brochure site may come in anywhere between €300 and €5000. Bear in mind that the website you commission reflects your business or organisation and that like any other product or service you get what you pay for.

What other costs are involved ?

There are two annual fees involved with having a website, hosting and domain renewal. Also if you have a shopping cart or ecommerce website a SSL Cert will be required.

What is hosting ?

Once you have a website it has to be hosted by a web server that connects to the world wide web. The fee you pay for hosting is an annual fee that you pay for your website to be stored on a web server. E-mail accounts are also hosted in this way. Here at t2 we can organise the most suitable hosting package for your website and all your email accounts. Our services engineers can also come to your premises and set up your new email accounts in Outlook for you. 

If you already have a hosting package we can work with the hosting company to put your website online or alternatively we can arrange for the transferral of hosting on your behalf.

What is a domain ?

Your domain is the name you choose for your website e.g. in our case it is www.t2websitedesign.ie . You can choose to have a .ie .com .net .eu etc. We can register your chosen domain name for you. Like hosting you pay an annual fee for domain registration.

If you register your domain through t2 we will notify you every year before your domain expires so you have plenty of time to renew it. It can be troublesome to pick up a domain that hasn’t been renewed promptly so leave it to us to take care of it.

What is an SSL Cert and how do I get one ?

An SSL Certificate is a certificate you buy which gives you the use of a secure server for passing sensitive information across the internet. The information is encrypted and cannot be intercepted by malicious vendors. Typically used on shopping cart websites or e-commerce websites where consumer information and credit card information is being taken online.

Typically we buy the SSL Cert on the clients behalf and pass on the cost. They are available from hosting companies.

What do I need to do ?

You have to gather the content for your website. All text content is provided by you. You can supply us with images or we can use stock imagery. If you are setting up an online shop very often your suppliers will have images they can supply you with.

What are the different kinds of websites ?

Websites are generally divided into three categories. 

• Brochure Sites – also known as Sales Leads Generator Websites. Brochure sites are static websites which inform your customer about your services. If you need to update your brochure site we can do that for

• CMS – Content Management System, a CMS website allows you to update your website inhouse. You are given a username and password and can login at anytime and add new pages, new images, edit old pages an generally keep your website brimming with up to date information.

• Shopping Cart – also known as an E-Commerce website is a website that allows your customers to buy products or services online.

Can I update the website myself ?

If you decide to get a content management system you will be able to update your website anywhere at anytime. If you would like to get a quote for a website which has a cms go to our online quote.

What is SEO and why do I need it

Search Engine Optimisation is the process of making a site and its content highly relevant for both search engines and searchers. If you want your website to be found on Google for certain keywords we can help you make this happen. See our seo results table for examples. 

We will submit your new website to all major search engines but bear in mind it can often take a few weeks for your new website to start appearing in results in search engines.

Will I have access to my website statistics ?

Yes we will create an online account for you where you will be able to login in and see how many people are visiting your site, where they come from and how long they spend on each page of your website.
