One thing I have noticed while working for t2 is that often people struggle to supply us with text content for their website’s. A lot of the businesses we work with are SMEs and write the copy for their websites themselves. For that reason I decided to make this video with my top 5 hints and tips on writing content for the web.

Writing Content For The Web

  1. Do your keyword research. Use free tools like Google Keyword Tool to help you create a list of keywords. make sure you use your keywords in the text content. Don’t Spam, remember you are writing for both humans and search engines.
  2. Be accurate and concise. Know what your service offerings / products are and describe them accurately.
  3. Don’t waffle. Don’t just tell your potential clients how fantastic you are. Think about your experiences dealing with prospective clients, what information do they want? Give users the information they came onto your website to find.
  4. If you don’t know how much to write, aim for 200 words per page. This is just a broad guideline.
  5. Make sure all your contact details are on the site, if not on every page.
  6. I know I said it was 5 tips but here is a freeby. Get someone to help you if writing is not your forte. As your third year English teacher used to say, READ OVER YOUR WORK.
